The 2010 Hill Stakes is set to run this Saturday, one of several Group 2 Rosehill races on Tea Rose Stakes Day.
Leading the odds at SportsBet is Purple at $3.00 to win. This 5 year old mare has done little to endear herself to punters this season, with only a third place Chelmsford Stakes finish worth noting, but she has plenty of experience in long distance races. This may be all it takes to win amongst a somewhat lacking field.
Triple Honour is also a favourite in the SportsBet odds, with a barrier 2 start. A second place finish in the Warwick Stakes got punters excited, but a fourth place Chelmsford Stakes performance left Triple Honour supporters somewhat deflated.
With that said, we think a bet on Hawk Island is the way to go. Undefeated in his last 4 starts, this Irish gelding is stepping up in competition with the Hill Stakes. He might just be able to pull it off given his record at long distances, and he will pay $8.50 if you bet at SportsBet.
